Franchise FAQ
Juniper Windows & Doors has been installing windows and doors since 2001, and every location works to one promise: total visibility for the homeowner. If you’re considering opening a Juniper location, here are the answers to the questions we hear most. Straight answers, no fine print surprises.
Common Questions
Do I need window and door experience to open a Juniper location?
No, but you need to respect the trade. We teach installation, product knowledge, quoting, and how to run a job site the Juniper way. What we can’t teach is the willingness to answer your phone, show up when you say you will, and stand behind finished work. Home improvement experience helps, especially anything involving carpentry or residential construction, but the 365-Day Done Right Promise is a standard you commit to, not a skill you arrive with.
What’s the total investment range?
Total investment varies by market, real estate, and how much inventory you decide to carry up front. You’ll get a detailed breakdown in the discovery process, including equipment, vehicle, training, initial product inventory, and working capital. Nobody opens a window and door location without setting aside real working capital, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Call (682) 281-2168 and we’ll walk you through the numbers honestly.
Is financing available?
We don’t offer financing directly, but we can point you toward lenders who understand home services and equipment-heavy startups. Most owners use a mix of personal capital, SBA-backed loans, and conventional business credit. We’ll review what’s realistic before you spend a dollar on a lease or a truck.
Do I get a protected territory?
Yes, each location receives a defined service area so you’re not competing against another Juniper across the street. The exact boundaries depend on population density, drive times, and where existing locations operate. You’ll see your territory on a map early in the process, before you sign anything.
How long does training take?
Plan on several weeks, split between product training, installation instruction, and the business side: quoting, scheduling, and running the Relay Visibility Guarantee. Written price before any work starts is not a slogan. It’s a daily discipline, and we train it until it’s automatic. Training continues after you open, because product lines like PGT, CGI, and Therma-Tru update their specs and we want you current.
What ongoing fees and royalties should I expect?
There are ongoing fees that cover brand support, technology, training updates, and access to supplier relationships across our eight product lines: PGT, CGI, CWS, ES Windows, ECO Window Systems, Mr-Glass, Therma-Tru, and ViewLux. The exact percentages come in the Franchise Disclosure Document, which you should review with a franchise attorney. We’ll give you the document early and answer questions directly.
How long does it take to go from signed agreement to open doors?
Most owners open within three to six months, depending on how quickly you secure a location, complete training, and pass your final operational readiness checks. Commercial real estate timelines in some markets can stretch that further. We’d rather you open a month late and run the system correctly than open early and compromise the written-price promise.
What support does Juniper provide after I open?
You get support on products, installation questions, quoting, and the technology that powers the Relay Visibility Guarantee: live arrival times, before-and-after photos, and digital invoicing. You’re an independent local business, not a branch office, and the support is built around that. When a homeowner calls your location, you answer. When you call us, we answer. The 24/7 live-phone standard applies to how we support owners, too.
Who is the ideal Juniper owner?
Someone who believes a homeowner should never wonder who is coming, when they’ll arrive, or what the job will cost. You should be comfortable with residential sales, direct with customers, and allergic to phone tag. Sean Mackey, who owns and installs for Juniper, puts it this way: if you can’t explain what a thermally broken frame is in one plain-English sentence, you’ll learn. If you don’t want to explain it at all, this isn’t the right fit.
What’s the next step if I’m interested?
Call (682) 281-2168. A real person answers, and we’ll start with a conversation about your market, your background, and whether the numbers can work. No pressure, no countdown clock, no “only two territories left.” Just a straight conversation about opening a business that sells windows and doors the right way.
